I need some insurance, what do I do next?

So, I need some insurance, what do I do next?  The first step is to contact us (quote@firstassurances.com or 0033 (0) to discuss what type of insurance you need, and we will ask you for any additional information we may need to be able to quote for you.

Once we have prepared your quote we will be on hand to explain the cover to you in English and answer any questions you may have and make any modifications you may prefer.  Many of our policies are very flexible, or have several levels, and we can tailor elements of cover to suit your needs, so don’t hesitate to ask!

If you are switching from an existing insurer, at this stage we can take care of the cancellation formalities for you.  It is important to follow the correct procedure to cancel any existing cover to avoid double paying, so just ask for advice.

Once we have finalised the quote and you are happy with the proposal, and we have put the wheels in motion to cancel any cover you may already have in place, we can get your new contract in place.  Payment methods are flexible.  You can pay by monthly direct debit, although you do need a French bank account to put this in place, or you can also send a bank transfer or simply give us a call and pay by card over the phone.  Signing the documents couldn’t be easier – in many cases you will be able to sign electronically and receive pdf copies of your policy documents.

Throughout the process we can be on hand to guide you and answer any questions you may have.  Insurance can work differently in France to elsewhere in the world, and even the best French speaker may not know all the insurance terminology, so ask as many questions as you need to in order to understand the process, both before and after your cover is in place.

Although there are procedures to follow to cancel an insurance policy, the majority of policies can be modified mid-term, so if you already have cover in place with us and something changes, either regarding the insured entity or in your circumstances, just drop us an email or give us a call and we will be able to tell you whether or not your policy needs to be modified.
